Climb My Way Out

It has been quite a busy month. I’ve had exams every day for a week straight! Anyway, I’ve launched a new blog about the upcoming game StarCraft 2. I have not yet monetized it and probably will not for a little while. This website is more of a hobby for me. I’m quite a Blizzard game fanatic and I’ve enjoyed every single game released by that company. Although, they push back their release date on all games and make everyone wait a gazillion years. It’s well worth it, all their games are just phenomenal!

Anyway, the StarCraft 2 blog has been online for 10 days now and to my surprise 20% of the traffic is coming from Google organic searches. The site has received about 650 visits (1500 views) with about 2.32 views per visit. I’m quite impressed with the results. I’m not an expert SEO guy, but I think I’m understanding Google more and more. The site was indexed within 48 hours, which is the fastest I’ve ever gotten a site indexed on Google. I know I’ve heard some others that got it down within 12 hours, but I’m not that good, yet! It is definitely important that you submit a sitemap to Google Webmaster’s and set your domain to either www or non-www. I’ve used different keywords and description for each and every single page, and that really helps Google index your site correctly.

Free traffic sources such as YouTube, Vimeo, Daily Motion, etc are just pure awesomeness! Social bookmarking sites such as Digg, Stumbleupon and Reddit sending quite a few visitors over too. If you are not using these free tools, you definitely should consider it. Also, large forums and other related blogs are a great source of traffic too. That’s it for my rant for this post.
