I’ve recently looked in to affiliate marketing and thought to myself, it’s really just the art of persuasion. Persuasion is a very powerful tool in many aspects of life and when it comes down to making money, it’s definitely useful. There’s a few steps to persuading someone:

1. Enter their domain – Be empathetic, put yourself in their shoes. Visualize what they are feeling? What they would do? And, how you would perceive the same situation?
2. Mirror their body language – Try to mimic the person you are persuading. How do they act? How do they speak? How do they think?
3. Be optimistic and friendly – Being friendly will raise their spirits, and brighten their day. This gets your relationship going on a good start.
4. Be sincere and trustworthy – Make them feel like they have someone to turn to when they need it. Build trust between both parties, people are much more receptive when there’s trust. The other person is more likely to comply to your request when you are sincere and trustworthy.
5. Provide compelling evidence – Explain in detail why your ideas and suggestions are the most desirable. Provide them undeniable evidence that your ideas/suggestions/product/etc is unrivaled. Make sure that your claims are true and verifiable.
6. Reveal what is in it for them – This is the most important aspect to persuading someone. Always put their well-being before others. Regardless of how compelling your evidence may be, if the other person does not see anything that’s in it for them they will simply disregard everything you have just presented. Show what is beneficial to them and how it provides additional value.
7. Show genuine care – Focus more on their interests, desires, needs, and expectations, so you can satisfy their craving for attention, and establish mutual trust and respect. It also shows that you really care about them and that will make them more likely to trust you and want to work with you.

These steps defines the success of any affiliate marketer and applies specifically to the landing page. The method an affiliate uses to drive traffic towards the landing page is much like any other internet marketing techniques. These methods include organic search engine optimization, paid search engine marketing, e-mail marketing and display advertisement. Affiliate links appear more often these days in reviews of products and services. Looking past the ways of generating traffic, let’s talk specifically about the landing page. For the user to have reached the landing page, they must have clicked on something that sparked their interest. When the user arrives on the landing page there should be something prominent related to the topic of interest that stands out. This will spark further curiosity and the user will read on. From this point on, your entire message should follow those simple steps. It’s just a simple process of rinse and repeat until the user is persuaded. You will probably go through a lot of trial and error before you get it down but that goes for most things in life.
